This $599,302 project grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Program (CFDA 47.070) will develop scalable, high-performance software infrastructure and algorithms for searching high-dimensional spaces. The project aims to advance state space search capabilities, a fundamental technique in artificial intelligence, by implementing novel sampling and local exploration methods that exploit the properties of physical world problems. The funding will enable the delivery of an integrated framework with a well-designed API for deploying sampling-based search in diverse applications such as robotics, autonomous systems, and scientific analysis. Subawards are planned as part of this effort. The project will also provide training opportunities for postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students, and engage researchers across disciplines through outreach activities like a major conference workshop.
