This $3,594,788 Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) program (CFDA 47.070) will fund the development of Globus Search, a new capability integrated into the Globus platform. Globus Search will enable researchers to easily discover, organize, and operate on data stored across distributed locations, helping to alleviate the challenges associated with managing large, complex, and geographically dispersed research datasets. The 4-year project, with an award date of August 1, 2024, will implement advanced data crawling, metadata extraction, indexing, and search capabilities, leveraging cloud-hosted services to deliver a rich user experience. This effort aims to enhance the ability of researchers, even in large collaborations, to navigate, create "virtual" data collections, and act on these collections irrespective of the underlying data locations.
