The University of Illinois received a $398,000 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Federal Grant Program (CFDA 47.070) for the project "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: OAC CORE: CYBER-INFRASTRUCTURE FOR COMMUNITY DETECTION, EXTRACTION, AND SEARCH IN LARGE NETWORKS." The award will fund the development of new, highly efficient software for community detection and graph clustering on large networks with millions or billions of nodes. The project aims to improve upon current methods by producing well-connected clusters and enabling exploratory data analysis capabilities for applications in areas such as systems biology, scientometrics, and social network analysis. The research will be integrated into graduate courses, and undergraduate and graduate students will participate in advanced mentored research. The award has an ultimate completion date of June 30, 2027.
