- The National Science Foundation awarded a $280,817 Project Grant to the University of Colorado Boulder under the Geosciences federal grant program (CFDA 47.050) from May 15, 2023 to April 30, 2026. The grant supports research to advance understanding of coronal heating and solar wind acceleration processes through multi-messenger data analysis and four-dimensional forward modeling simulations. Specifically, the University will construct line-of-sight models of extreme ultraviolet and X-ray...
- This federal Project Grant award of $182,730, provided by the National Science Foundation's Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050), aims to improve the understanding of the Sun's corona through the analysis of data from five total solar eclipses between 2015 and 2024. The project, led by Predictive Science Incorporated, a for-profit research organization in San Diego, will analyze visible and near-infrared imaging data of coronal emission lines to infer the electron temperature, electron density, and...
- This $385,959 project grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's Geosciences Program (CFDA 47.050) aims to improve understanding of the Sun's corona, the hot outer layer of the solar atmosphere, through the analysis of data from five total solar eclipses occurring between 2015 and 2024. Researchers at the Wentworth Institute of Technology will analyze visible and near-infrared imaging data of the corona to study its electron temperature, density, and magnetic field structure. This will...

The 3-year project will utilize 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulations and 17 years of observational data from the National Solar Observatory's Global Oscillation Network...
- This $517,046 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050) supports collaborative research on plasma turbulence and heating in the solar chromosphere. The investigators will carry out theoretical analysis and computer simulations to test the hypothesis that small-scale plasma processes, known as the thermal Farley-Buneman instability, cause heating in the coolest parts of the Sun's atmosphere. The research team will use observational data...
- This Project Grant from the National Science Foundation Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences, totaling $357,172, supports research into small-scale ejections in the sun's photosphere through chromosphere and corona from September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024.
