The Department of Agriculture Forest Service R9-Eastern Region awarded a $600,000 Project Grant to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources under the State & Private Forestry Cooperative Fire Assistance federal grant program (CFDA #10.698).
The grant will fund wildfire risk reduction efforts from January 2023 through December 2025. Specifically, the Department of Natural Resources will work to advance technologies that help reduce wildfire risk on non-federal forest and other rural lands in Michigan. This aligns with the stated purpose of the State & Private Forestry Cooperative Fire Assistance program to assist in controlling rural fires and developing new approaches for the prevention, control, and prescribed use of fires on non-federal lands.
