This $488,720 Project Grant, funded by the National Science Foundation's Geosciences Program (CFDA 47.050), supports a multi-institutional Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program focused on broadening participation in atmospheric science, oceanography, and geosciences research. Over a 3-year period from August 2024 to July 2027, the program will provide 10 undergraduate participants per summer with high-quality research experiences, professional development, and opportunities to continue their REU work. The program aims to implement a diverse applicant pool, strengthen partnerships between local Atlanta HBCUs and Georgia State University, and help prepare participants for success in AOG-related graduate programs and careers. Key program activities include faculty-mentored research projects, group meetings, professional development, ethics discussions, and site visits to regional organizations. The grantee, Georgia Tech Research Corporation, will administer the program and collaborate with partners to achieve the specified goals.
