The University of Texas at Austin received a $300,001 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF)'s STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) to conduct a research synthesis study on the barriers and solutions in postsecondary STEM training settings for undergraduate students with disabilities. This collaborative research project with the University of Mississippi aims to advance knowledge about increasing the engagement, academic retention, degree completion, and career advancement of students with disabilities in STEM fields. The research team will engage with an expert advisory board and postsecondary students with disabilities to contribute to the systematic review and analysis of published findings on this topic. The study is funded through NSF's Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM programs, including the Hispanic Serving Institutions and Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation programs, as well as the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. This research project is intended to help realize the full potential of the U.S. STEM workforce by improving the inclusion of people with disabilities.
