The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $1,500,000 Project Grant under the NSF Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (CFDA 47.084) program to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to establish an Open-Source Ecosystem (OSE) for OpenCilk, called FastCode. FastCode will encompass research and education in Software Performance Engineering to improve the efficiency, speed, and resource consumption of software applications. The project aims to expand the Software Performance Engineering workforce and enable a larger community of application developers to leverage advanced computing capabilities. Subawards are planned to the University of California, Riverside to develop curriculum, training materials, and computer resources, as well as to the University of California, Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory to support the transition of the project's research and results to distributed ownership.
