This $657,239 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Geosciences program provides organizational and logistical support for the Physical Oceanography Dissertations Symposium (PODS) and Dissertations Symposium in Chemical Oceanography (DISCO) biennial meetings in 2024 and 2026. These symposia will create cohorts of early-career professionals in the fields of geochemistry and physical oceanography, facilitate networking and collaboration, and enable the participants to broaden their research focus and share experiences. The funding will cover meeting venue, catering, abstract preparation, outreach video production, and participant travel and accommodation costs. The symposia aim to benefit the research programs at the participants' institutions, foster interdisciplinary understanding, and increase awareness of these events beyond traditional oceanography institutes, including through distribution of participant interview videos to undergraduate students and underrepresented groups.
