This $146,347 Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under the STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) will scale up the successful "Legacy++" peer-learning community model to provide Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science (CS) preparation and career awareness for 500 Black young women across Alabama, Mississippi, and Ohio.

The project will create a partnership among post-secondary institutions, collaborators specializing in CS program analysis, and industry partners to facilitate an immersive summer institute and school-year curriculum workshops. This will enable 18 Black CS teacher leaders to prepare students for the AP CS Principles exam while providing resources to mitigate barriers to CS access, such as access to a peer learning community. The project aims to foster a perception of CS as a communal endeavor, strengthen participants' identity with CS/technical careers, and increase awareness and understanding of CS careers among the target population. Evaluation activities will continuously assess the program's implementation and outcomes.
