This $346,840 Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under the STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) will support a six-year initiative at Clark College in Washington to expand access and success for low-income, high-achieving students pursuing associate degrees in engineering and computer science. The project will provide scholarships to 48 undergraduate students, along with intensive faculty mentorship, industry collaborations, and a student design center to build essential disciplinary and professional competencies. The primary goals are to improve recruitment, retention, completion, and transfer rates for these students, as well as educate them in critical STEM skills. The project aims to create a sustainable workforce pathway model that can be replicated at other community colleges. Evaluation will examine the impact on student outcomes, skill development, and academic/career decision-making.
