Blocksynop, Inc. received a $274,686 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships program (CFDA 47.084) to develop a neural blockade monitoring technology. The grant aims to advance an early-stage minimally viable device that objectively quantifies neural blockades in real time. Funding will support applying human factors and design engineering standards to create a robust patient monitoring device. This will help ensure patient safety and optimized treatment by assuring device usability, reliability, and ability to acquire, process, display, and record pertinent data under diverse clinical conditions and patient populations. The technology has potential for use in perioperative care, post-surgical recovery, chronic pain management, military medicine, and emerging hospital-at-home models.
