This $266,986 project grant from the National Science Foundation's Computer and Information Science and Engineering program will support the development of educational modules and a content hub for hands-on, exploration-based learning in data systems. The University of Chicago will create a collection of "courselets" - scaffolded educational modules executable on open cloud testbeds - covering topics such as data acquisition, networking, storage, machine learning, analytics, and visualization. Students will be able to deploy relevant courselets through an integrated content hub "with one click" to explore classroom concepts and modify exercises. The awardee aims to establish best practices for courselet creation, teaching, and improvement to build a community improving digital educational content availability. The three-year award period began October 1, 2022.
