This $500,000 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace program will fund the University of Florida to develop an integrated hands-on platform and suite of experiments for disseminating vehicular cybersecurity concepts. The platform aims to educate multidisciplinary undergraduate students across science, technology, engineering and mathematics areas relevant to transportation security. It will provide a comprehensive hands-on lab experience as well as individual experiments that can be integrated into cybersecurity, hardware security, wireless networking, and vehicular systems courses. Modules from the platform will also be used to train transportation engineers, automotive electronics designers, and practitioners in cyber-physical systems and hardware security. Funded under the NSF's STEM Education program (CFDA #47.076), this three-year award beginning October 1, 2022 supports the technical objectives of creating a unified exploration platform covering security at the hardware, sensor, compute, network and system levels for emerging vehicles; establishing hands-on learning as a mechanism for teaching vehicular security topics; and evaluating immersive learning approaches for cybersecurity education.
