This five-year, $1.5 million Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) will fund scholarships for 25 domestic, low-income, high-achieving undergraduate students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to complete bachelor's and accelerated master's degrees in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering fields. The funding will support scholarships for students to obtain undergraduate degrees and one-year accelerated master's degrees in software engineering, electrical and computer engineering, or cybersecurity engineering. In addition to financial assistance, the award will create an academic support ecosystem including faculty mentoring, advising, participation in a learning community, professional development, and guidance in obtaining internships and research opportunities to increase retention and degree attainment among the scholars. The project aims to evaluate the impact of this academic support system and identify best practices for supporting the success of students from groups underrepresented in STEM fields.
