The National Science Foundation awarded Dr. Felix Gotti $300,000 under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Ascending Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to conduct research and broadening participation activities from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025. Dr. Gotti, under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Postnikov at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will investigate problems in algebraic combinatorics related to triangulations of products of two simplices and fine mixed subdivisions of regular tetrahedra. This work aims to address questions from Dr. Postnikov's prior research and solve open problems identified in publications by Ardila and Billey. Additionally, Dr. Gotti will design satellite research projects to engage young students from underrepresented communities in STEM and mentor them in mathematics. Outreach activities will include involvement in the MIT-PRIMES program to bring research opportunities to high school students. This award supports the National Science Foundation's mission to advance mathematics under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences grant program (CFDA 47.049).
