The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families awarded a $500,000 Formula Grant to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services on October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024 under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Personal Responsibility Education Program (CFDA #93.092). The grant funds comprehensive family planning, training, and technical assistance services statewide. This includes screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, cancers related to the reproductive system, intimate partner violence, and other health concerns for low-income women and men. Additionally, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services will provide training and technical assistance to schools and community organizations serving adolescents, parents, and service providers. The goal is to deliver evidence-based programming around puberty, adolescent health, sexuality, pregnancy and STI prevention, abstinence, and healthy relationships. A sub-award of $250,000 was provided to the Family Planning Association of Maine, Inc. to directly deliver the comprehensive family planning and educational services to clients across the state.
