The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (SD DANR) received a $1.2 million project grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the Cooperative Forestry Assistance federal grant program (CFDA #10.664) to support consolidated forestry programs in South Dakota from July 2021 through September 2025.
The grant funding will support SD DANR's delivery of forest health, urban and community forestry, and forest stewardship programs and services across South Dakota. Specifically, the grant will aid SD DANR's efforts to advance forest resources management and conservation, develop genetically improved tree seeds and seedlings, and promote active management, protection and utilization of forest resources. The grant award complements the Cooperative Forestry Assistance program's objective of providing technical and financial assistance to states and localities to support sustainable forest management on nonfederal rural and urban lands.
