The University of Oklahoma and its sub-awardees at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma will provide collaborative research services under a $565,639 National Science Foundation Project Grant in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program area. Specifically, the awardees will conduct an interdisciplinary study to identify new zeolite catalyst materials where the distribution of isolated, paired, proximate, and synergistic active sites can be controlled. Through a synthesis, characterization, simulation, and reaction analysis approach, the team will work to tailor the placement and temporal behavior of catalyst active sites in key reactions involving traditional and non-traditional feedstocks. The overall goal is to advance the fundamental understanding of catalyst design variables and their environmental impacts. The award period runs from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025.
