This three-year, $619,214 National Science Foundation award under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program will support the Platform for the Accelerated Realization, Analysis, and Discovery of Interface Materials (PARADIM) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site. The REU program will provide research opportunities for 14 undergraduate interns annually at Cornell University or Johns Hopkins University facilities. Interns may choose from eight general projects in areas such as thin film growth, electron microscopy, and theory and simulation. Each intern will work on an individually designed research project under a faculty mentor or graduate student. In addition to hands-on research, the program includes professional development workshops on topics like science communication, ethics, and literature research skills. The goal is to encourage careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields and advance national priorities in these areas.
