The National Science Foundation awarded Trustees of Boston College $267,400 under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Project Grant program to acquire a thermal scanning probe lithography instrument for use in a glovebox. The three-year award beginning October 1, 2021 will support the purchase of the equipment to enable research and training in materials and devices. The instrument will allow manipulation of matter at the nanoscale to advance understanding and development of new materials critical to science and technology. Located at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, the equipment and associated research activities funded by this award will strengthen the nation's scientific enterprise in mathematical and physical sciences as intended under the NSF program.
