The University of Wisconsin-River Falls was awarded a $453,164 project grant from the National Science Foundation Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences. The grant supports collaborative research on the Simpson Neutron Monitor Network under the Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050).
Through this three-year award ending July 2024, UW-River Falls will work with partners to strengthen understanding of the integrated Earth system by expanding fundamental knowledge of the atmosphere through operation and maintenance of the Simpson Neutron Monitor Network. As part of basic research in atmospheric and ocean sciences, the Network provides long-term measurements of galactic cosmic rays to study solar variability and its effects on Earth. The funding will allow UW-River Falls to continue delivering neutron monitor data and research collaborating with the international scientific community.
