The National Science Foundation awarded a $286,280 project grant under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) to the Research Foundation of the City University of New York on behalf of Queens College. The three-year award beginning July 1, 2021 will support research into fluid-fluid interfaces with diminished surface tension and giant thermal and quantum fluctuations as novel materials for ultrasoft photonics. The grant aims to increase scientific understanding and knowledge of major problems in materials research through advancing this area of study into new materials with properties that could enable future ultrasoft photonic technologies. The work will be conducted at Queens College in Kew Gardens Hills, New York.
