The University of California, Santa Barbara will conduct collaborative research on two-way coupled fluid and particulate transport in fractured media through a three-year, $172,301 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050). The research aims to bridge understanding of microscopic origins and macroscopic networks of fluid and particle movement through fractured rock. As part of its mission to strengthen the geosciences, the NSF Geosciences program supports basic research to increase knowledge of Earth's integrated systems. The University of California, Santa Barbara will leverage the funding to advance fundamental scientific knowledge of fluid-particle interactions within fractured media from August 2021 through July 2024.
