THE MADISON COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING (MCOFA) REQUESTS A RENEWAL OF THE CNCS GRANT (FY2020 RSVP COMPETITION NY18) IN ORDER TO CONTINUE ITS HEALTHY FUTURES PROGRAMS. THROUGH THE CNCS GRANT, MCOFA HAS ENGAGED THE SERVICE OF 150 VOLUNTEERS DURING THE PAST THREE YEARS. WITH NINE MONTHS LEFT IN THE CURRENT GRANT PERIOD, THE POSSIBILITY OF MEETING OUR 130 VOLUNTEER HAS BEEN SURPASSED. OUR VOLUNTEER-BASED PROGRAMS HAVE HELPED 921 OLDER ADULTS LIVE INDEPENDENTLY. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA WILL CONTINUE TO BE HEALTHY FUTURES. OUR HEALTHY FUTURES ACTIVITIES ARE IN-LINE WITH THE OBJECTIVES OF CNCS, AS EACH ONE SERVES TO PROMOTE AGING IN PLACE AND/OR ACCESS TO PRIMARY AND PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE. THE ACTIVITIES REFLECT THE CNCS PRINCIPLES TO IDENTIFY AND INVEST IN COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS; ENGAGE AMERICANS IN SERVICE; SUPPORT EVIDENCE BASED PROGRAMS; AND LEVERAGE PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS. GRANT FUNDS WILL CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN HEALTHY FUTURES PROGRAMS WHICH ACTIVELY ENGAGE VOLUNTEERS IN A VARIETY OF AREAS. SERVICE VOLUNTEERS CURRENTLY ASSIST IN FOOD PANTRIES, PROVIDE NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION AND COMPANIONSHIP VIA TELEPHONE SUPPORT, LEAD OR AID IN OUR EVIDENCE-INFORMED BONE BUILDERS PROGRAM, AND RECRUIT AND SUPPORT NEW VOLUNTEERS. FUNDS WILL ALSO HELP PUBLICIZE AND SUPPORT THE EVIDENCE-BASED TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS PROGRAM. AT THE END OF THIS GRANT PERIOD, OUR GOAL IS TO ENGAGE 150 VOLUNTEERS IN MCOFA RSVP PROGRAMS. MCOFA PROJECTS THAT 1,000 OLDER ADULTS WILL RECEIVE SERVICES THAT ALLOW THEM TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY AND EXPERIENCE INCREASED HOUSEHOLD FOOD SECURITY, INCREASED SOCIAL TIES, AND PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT. THE CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $50,938 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $27,583 NON-FEDERAL RESOURCES.
