The National Science Foundation Division of Chemistry awarded a $672,602 Project Grant to the University of Massachusetts Boston for research titled "CAREER: PROBING INTERFACES IN ENERGY STORAGE MATERIALS USING DYNAMIC IMPEDANCE SPECTROSCOPY AND MULTIHARMONIC ELECTROCHEMICAL QUARTZ CRYSTAL MICROBALANCE DISSIPATION." The grant is part of the NSF's Mathematical and Physical Sciences program and will fund research from June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2026. The University of Massachusetts Boston will utilize dynamic impedance spectroscopy and multiharmonic electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance dissipation techniques to probe interfaces in energy storage materials. The research aims to advance understanding of major problems in energy storage by increasing the store of scientific knowledge on interfaces, which are critical for performance in batteries and other energy technologies. The parent organization, the University of Massachusetts, will oversee delivery of the research products and services through the University of Massachusetts Boston's Department of Grants and Administrative Contracts.
