The National Science Foundation Division of Ocean Sciences awarded a $858,566 Project Grant to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution under the Geosciences federal grant program (CFDA 47.050) for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024. The grant will support collaborative research to measure export and remineralization rates of bioactive and particle reactive trace elements in the ocean using thorium-234. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution will deliver data and research insights to strengthen understanding of the integrated Earth system and fundamental ocean science knowledge, in alignment with objectives of the NSF Geosciences program to support basic research in atmospheric, earth, and ocean sciences.
