The goal of the "THE GOAL OF IGLUWIYEYA (PREPARE ONESELF): CONTINUING PATHWAYS FROM PREPARATION TO GRADUATION AT LAND-GRANT INSTITUTIONS" project is to create and sustain American Indian (AI) student pathways to access and succeed at South Dakota State University (SDSU) and its Tribal College and University (TCU) partner, Sitting Bull University.
This $1,000,000 Project Grant, awarded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (CFDA 10.527 New Beginning for Tribal Students program), will strengthen current programming, create additional pre-college and transition programs, develop sustainable resources, and increase support for AI students at SDSU and Sitting Bull University. The project aims to streamline AI student journeys by providing student-centered approaches to college access and success, enhance cultural competency, and create sustainable resources to promote college degrees and student support. The project's success will be measured by the number of AI students adequately prepared for higher education, their enrollment, retention, and graduation at the partner institutions.
