Lincoln University of Missouri will establish a scholarship program to enhance diversity in the food, agricultural sciences, and related fields workforce through a $526,315.79 Project Grant from the US Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The grant was awarded on July 15, 2021 under the Scholarships for Students at 1890 Institutions program (CFDA 10.524) to provide scholarships through July 14, 2025.
The program will engage, retain, mentor and expose underrepresented undergraduates enrolled in Lincoln's College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences through classroom curriculum and experiential learning opportunities on campus and with industry. It aims to increase graduates for entry-level positions and prepare students for meaningful undergraduate experiences and the 21st century agricultural workforce through academic and hands-on skill development. Participants will form a living learning community with faculty, researchers and employers for intense interaction and navigation of a four-year academic and career pathway toward graduation and employment in agriculture.
