The $1.46 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) Project Grant will fund the City of Crossett, Arkansas' East Crossett Sewer Improvement Project. The EDA investment, made under the Investments for Public Works and Economic Development Facilities program (CFDA 11.300), is calculated to create 220 jobs, retain 40 positions, and leverage $603 million in private investment. The project supports Crossett's industrial park located in an Opportunity Zone and will help the community recover from recent economic dislocations, including layoffs affecting nearly 600 employees at Crossett's largest employer as well as impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. This EDA funding also sustains regional economic development planning efforts led by the Southeast Arkansas Economic Development District to strengthen the regional economy through coordinated public and private investments and job creation. Total funding for the project is $1.83 million, with the grant awarded on September 29, 2021.
