The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded the County of Alameda $1,680,800 under the Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) federal grant program on October 21, 2021. The funding will support the County in establishing the Resilient East Bay Cluster Development Strategy to strengthen and support key industries impacted by COVID-19, including manufacturing, transportation, distribution, and logistics (TDL), and biotechnology/life science. Specifically, the County will deliver several development strategies to aid the East Bay economy's recovery from significant disruptions caused by the pandemic. The strategies aim to increase higher paying job opportunities and spur private investment throughout the region by advancing economic resiliency. Once completed, the project funded under this EDA EAA award will help the East Bay area build back from the economic effects of the public health emergency in a more sustainable and prosperous manner.
