This $4 million EDA Project Grant supports the Appalachian Climate Technology (ACT NOW) Coalition led by the Coalfield Development Corporation to create clean energy and green economy jobs in 21 economically distressed counties in southern West Virginia. The Coalition will spur job growth through transitioning from coal to solar power, implementing sustainable reuse projects on abandoned mine sites, rejuvenating brownfield sites with new facilities, and developing entrepreneurial programs. Funded under the Department of Commerce's Economic Adjustment Assistance program, this award embraces economic equity, good-paying jobs, and enhanced U.S. competitiveness through developing and strengthening regional industry clusters in energy transition and land reuse.
