The Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded $400,000 under the Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program to support the City of Waterbury's Phase II/III strategy, planning, design, and implementation for the Brass City Regional Food Hub. The EDA investment will lay the foundation for a new regional food hub operated by the Waterbury Public School District. The food hub aims to support job growth and training opportunities as well as develop local infrastructure supporting the regional economy in Connecticut. Once completed, the project is intended to help the region recover from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic by bolstering job creation, spurring private investment, and strengthening overall economic growth.
