SPECIFICALLY, THE RECIPIENT WILL CARRY OUT ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE COLLABORATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS TO ASSESS TRANSBOUNDARY MINING POLLUTION IN THE UNITED STATES-BRITISH COLUMBIA TRANSBOUNDARY WATERSHED. ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED INCLUDE ENGAGEMENT IN INTERNATIONAL COORDINATION TO MONITOR AND ASSESS WATER QUALITY IN THE KOOTENAI/Y WATERSHED. SPECIFIED ACTIONS INCLUDE THE PARTICIPATION IN BRITISH COLUMBIA'S ELK VALLEY AREA BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN, COMPLETION OF CLEAN WATER ACT SECTION 303(D) ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY, AND TO PERFORM BENEFICIAL USE ASSESSMENTS FOR ALL APPLICABLE POLLUTANTS FOR LAKE KOOCANUSA AND THE KOOTENAI RIVER. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES INCLUDE ENHANCED COORDINATION TO UNDERSTAND THE CAUSES OF TRANSBOUNDARY WATER POLLUTION, AND REMEDIES TO SLOW AND REVERSE CURRENT TRENDS. THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES INCLUDE ADDED TRANSPARENCY ON HOW MINING IS REGULATED AND WHAT THE OBJECTIVES/GOALS FOR WATERSHED REMEDIATION AND RESTORATION ARE ON THE CANADIAN SIDE OF THE BORDER, AS WELL AS IMPROVED UNDERSTANDING OF KOOTENAI BASIN TRANSBOUNDARY POLLUTION ISSUES AND POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE MONTANA AND THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES.
