This Project Grant award of $349,727 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Pollution Prevention Grants Program (CFDA 66.708) will provide technical assistance to businesses in Montana to help them develop and adopt source reduction practices, also known as pollution prevention (P2). The recipient, Montana State University, will partner with the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center and Last Best Planet to deliver P2 training and implementation support to the state's food and beverage manufacturing and processing industry. This will help reduce toxic air emissions, water and energy usage, and hazardous materials generation while enabling small businesses to save money. Key project activities include continuing the EcoStar Leadership Award program, rolling out a Sustainable Brewery Certification mobile toolkit, hosting a regional P2 roundtable, and maintaining an online P2 resource platform. The award period runs from January 6, 2025 to January 5, 2027 and is expected to benefit rural, non-rural, and tribal communities across Montana.
