The $368,000 award will fund activities such as: (1) ongoing lead testing at all water consumption taps in Vermont's child care facilities and schools, (2) remediating any locations found to have lead levels at or above the state's 4 parts per billion action level, and (3) providing education and training to schools and child care providers on lead risks, testing, and remediation. The project will deliver an estimated 1,200 initial water samples, 30 tap remediations at child care facilities, and 60 follow-up samples to verify remediation effectiveness. A revised public results website and webinar trainings will also be provided to support this comprehensive effort to reduce children's exposure to lead in drinking water across Vermont.
