This $727,777 Project Grant award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 under the Consolidated Pesticide Enforcement Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.700) supports the New Mexico Department of Agriculture's (NMDA) pesticide regulatory and enforcement programs. The funding enables NMDA to conduct compliance monitoring, enforcement, applicator certification and training, worker protection activities, water quality protection, endangered species conservation, and public outreach and education. The overall purpose is to enhance protection of human health and the environment by reducing pesticide exposure to the public, agricultural workers, and sensitive ecosystems. Key deliverables include inspection reports, enforcement actions, applicator certification records, worker protection trainings, and water/endangered species monitoring. This cooperative agreement continues NMDA's ongoing implementation of Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) programs to promote sustainable agricultural practices and safeguard public and environmental health in New Mexico.
