The New York State Education Department (NYSED) was awarded a $29,423,568 federal Formula Grant under the U.S. Department of Education's Career and Technical Education -- Basic Grants to States program (CFDA 84.048). This grant supports academic, technical, and employability skills development for secondary and postsecondary students enrolled in career and technical education programs across New York State. The funding enables NYSED to enhance curriculum, purchase equipment, provide teacher training, and deliver student support services to prepare students for high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand occupations. As the state educational agency, NYSED will distribute sub-awards to local educational agencies, area career and technical education schools, and other eligible entities to implement these initiatives and improve educational and workforce outcomes for students throughout New York. The grant has a performance period from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026.
