The U.S. Department of Education's Career and Technical Education -- Basic Grants to States program (CFDA 84.048) has awarded a $21,331,801 formula grant to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for the period of July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026. This funding will enable MDE to enhance academic, technical, and employability skills for secondary and postsecondary students enrolled in career and technical education programs across Michigan. The grant supports curriculum development, equipment purchases, teacher training, and student support services to prepare students for high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand occupations. As the state's designated eligible agency for this program, MDE will distribute subgrants to local educational agencies, area career and technical education schools, and other eligible entities to deliver these critical career and technical education services to students throughout Michigan.
