The Mississippi Department of Education was awarded a $33,599,626 formula grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Student Support and Academic Enrichment program (CFDA 84.424) to improve student academic achievement through increased access to well-rounded educational opportunities, safe and healthy school conditions, and use of technology. The grant period runs from July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. Through subawards to 118 local educational agencies across the state, the funding will support local efforts to provide all students with access to a well-rounded education; improve school conditions for student learning; and improve the use of technology to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students. Subawards range from $10,000 to over $1M, with funding going to school districts serving urban, rural, and suburban communities statewide. The program aims to increase capacity of states and local districts to meet sizeable statutory purpose areas supporting safe and healthy students.
