The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded a $2,295,161 Formula Grant to the Louisiana Department of Education under the Education for Homeless Children and Youth program (CFDA 84.196) to provide services from July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The grant funding will support services to ensure homeless children and youth in Louisiana have equal access to free public education, including establishing programs to identify such children and youth, assessing their needs, and providing educational services to allow them to enroll, attend, and succeed in school. The services delivered through this award align with the goals of the Education for Homeless Children and Youth program to remove barriers to school enrollment, attendance, and achievement faced by homeless students.
