The Yupiit School District received a $181,513 Indian Education Formula Grants to LEAs award from the Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. The award period runs from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.
The funding supports the Indian Education Grants to Local Educational Agencies program (CFDA 84.060), which aims to address the unique educational and culturally-related academic needs of Indian students. Specifically, the grant helps ensure Indian students gain knowledge and skills to meet state academic standards while maintaining their cultural identities. It also supports efforts to ensure Indian students and families understand and effectively participate in educational programs and activities. The Yupiit School District will deliver services to target populations in Akiachak, Alaska through this formula grant funding.
