The City of Bridgeport, Connecticut received a $1,202,658.88 Formula Grant award on September 10, 2024 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Home Investment Partnerships Program (CFDA 14.239). This program provides formula grants to state and local governments to expand affordable housing opportunities for low- and very low-income Americans through activities such as rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing, homebuyer assistance, acquisition and construction of rental housing, and tenant-based rental assistance. As an entitlement community, the City of Bridgeport will utilize this funding to design and implement strategies for creating decent, safe, and affordable housing, with a particular emphasis on expanding rental housing options for economically disadvantaged populations. At least 15% of the award must be reserved for projects developed by Community Housing Development Organizations to ensure grassroots community involvement in the affordable housing initiatives.
