The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $1,253,657.69 Formula Grant under the Home Investment Partnerships Program (CFDA 14.239) to the County of Escambia, Florida (doing business as the Commissioners of Escambia County) on November 7, 2024. This grant will support the county's efforts to expand the supply of affordable housing, particularly rental housing, for low- and very low-income residents. The funding will enable the county to undertake a range of eligible activities, such as rehabilitating owner-occupied housing, providing homebuyer assistance, acquiring and constructing rental housing, and offering tenant-based rental assistance. As a Formula Grant program, awards are allocated to state and local governments to design and implement affordable housing strategies tailored to their communities. The Home Investment Partnerships Program aims to strengthen the capacity of these jurisdictions to create decent, safe, and affordable housing options, with a focus on expanding rental housing opportunities for economically disadvantaged populations.
