The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) has been awarded a $225,796 Formula Grant under the U.S. Department of Education's Program of Protection and Advocacy of Individual Rights (CFDA 84.240). This grant, with a performance period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, will enable the DPA's Protection and Advocacy Division to provide comprehensive legal services, advocacy, and rights protection for individuals with disabilities across Kentucky. The DPA will leverage this funding to investigate cases of abuse and neglect, offer legal representation, support voting rights, facilitate community integration, and ensure access to vocational rehabilitation and assistive technologies for Kentuckians with developmental disabilities, mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, and other disability classifications. As the state's designated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) system, the DPA collaborates with local governments, universities, and advocacy groups to promote independence, productivity, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities throughout the state.
