The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a $696,110.77 Formula Grant under the State Wildlife Grants (CFDA 15.634) program to the Wyoming Game & Fish Commission. This funding supports 7 new projects focused on conserving over 800 mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, mollusk, crustacean, and invertebrate species in Wyoming, including 278 identified as being in greatest conservation need. Key project areas include habitat and climate studies for pygmy rabbits, monitoring efforts for American goshawks, population assessments for midget faded rattlesnakes, conservation decision support for pilose crayfish, and habitat restoration for native aquatic species. Through this grant, the Commission will deliver a range of wildlife monitoring, research, and habitat management activities to support proactive conservation of at-risk and non-game species across Wyoming from July 2024 through December 2027.
