The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the City of Evansville a $230,712 Emergency Solutions Grant (CFDA 14.231) to support a range of activities to address homelessness and housing instability. The funding will enable the city to: (1) engage homeless individuals and families through street outreach; (2) improve emergency shelters and cover operating costs; (3) provide essential services to shelter residents; (4) rapidly re-house homeless individuals and families; and (5) prevent homelessness. As a Formula Grant, the award will fund these activities over a two-year period from September 2024 to September 2026. The Emergency Solutions Grant program provides flexible funding to state and local governments to implement a comprehensive approach to assisting those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
