The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) was awarded a $1,524,605 Formula Grant by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on September 22, 2023. The grant will fund the Alameda Main Street Ferry Terminal Rehabilitation Project, which will design, fabricate, and install a new passenger float as well as rehabilitate ramping and piles at the terminal. The project aims to sustain lower facility operating costs, increase operational safety, improve ADA accessibility, enhance bike and pedestrian access, and improve system efficiency. These improvements will help maintain accessible gangways and boarding ramps to ensure faster, safer, and more comfortable boarding and disembarking for all riders, including those with limited mobility or who use wheelchairs.
