The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) has been awarded a $23,160,500 Formula Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (CFDA 66.468) program. This grant will provide funding to capitalize NHDES's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), which will be used to finance eligible drinking water infrastructure projects across the state. The bulk of the DWSRF funding will be used to provide loans and other authorized assistance to public water systems for projects that improve drinking water treatment, water distribution, source water supply, finished water storage, and other critical infrastructure needed to protect public health. NHDES may also utilize a portion of the funds for set-aside activities, such as providing technical assistance to small systems, program administration, and state program management. Additionally, the grant includes sub-awards for initiatives like source water protection, cybersecurity, cyanotoxin monitoring, capacity development, leak detection, lead service line inventories, and tank inspections. The award period runs from October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2030.
