The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $11,256,300 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Formula Grant (CFDA 66.458) to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) on August 7, 2023. The grant funds will be used to capitalize NDDEQ's CWSRF program, which provides low-interest loans to communities throughout North Dakota for planning, design, and construction of eligible water quality improvement and protection projects.
As part of this grant, NDDEQ will sub-award funds to the City of Fargo to expand its wastewater treatment facility. This project will include constructing a new west treatment train, influent pumping, preliminary treatment, biological treatment process, disinfection, solids treatment and handling, and other ancillary process needs. The expected outcomes of this grant are to establish and manage an effective, comprehensive CWSRF program and maintain a self-sustaining revolving fund to improve and protect water quality and public health throughout the state.
